Custom post type and metadata support in the REST API
developer.wordpress.com on

Excerpt: We’ve recently made some updates to the REST API which is available here on WordPress. com and for any Jetpack-enabled site that have the REST API module activated. The API now has full read and write support for custom post types and post metadata. You can specify a post’s post type when you create or edit it. If you’re fetching a single post, you will receive it’s post type in the response. Of course, you can also specify a post type when fetching a series of posts. In all cases the parameter to use or look out for is type. You can also query posts by metadata parameters.... read the full post.

feedproxy.google.com on

Excerpt: WordPress. com now offers hotel, inn and bed and breakfast owners and managers the ability to showcase their properties with the help of a new responsive theme just for hotels. In addition, the service also today launched a special site dedicated to showing hotel owners how they can use the service to promote their properties. For WordPress. com, adding this hotel vertical is part of a now-familiar pattern. Over the last few months, WordPress. com has been making a concerted effort to launch special verticals for businesses like restaurants and use cases like sites for schools and personal portfolios for photographers and designers. The emphasis here is clearly on showing how WordPress.... read the full post.

WordPress Titles: scraping with search url
blog.scraperwiki.com on

Excerpt: I’ve blogged for a few years now, and I’ve used several tools along the way. zachbeauvais. com began as a Drupal site, until I worked out that it’s a bit overkill, and switched to WordPress. Recently, I’ve been toying with the idea of using a static site generator (a lá Jekyll or Hyde), or even pulling together a kind of ebook of ramblings. I also want to be able to arrange the posts based on the keywords they contain, regardless of how they’re categorised or tagged. Whatever I wanted to do, I ended up with a single point of messiness: individual blog posts, and how they’re formatted. When I started, I seem to remember using Drupal’s truly awful WYSIWYG editor, and tweaking the HTML soup it produced.... read the full post.

Transactional Email Plugin for WordPress
blog.mailchimp.com on

Excerpt: WordPress isn’t just for blogging anymore. You can use WordPress to build a full featured e-commerce site with a built-in social network of forums and groups, along with a job directory and classifieds section. But you already know all that. What you probably don’t know (or just don’t think too much) about, is the email all those cool features generate: invoices, receipts, shipping notifications, comment updates, account password reminders, and so on. And guess what? All of those emails are “transactional,” a realm that MailChimp traditionally does not address. Until now. Last year we launched Mandrill, our transactional email service that runs on the delivery infrastructure powering MailChimp.... read the full post.
