If you sell on Etsy, you probably know the routine. You create a listing, upload photos, set a return policy, wait for an order, copy the tracking number into the order, mark it shipped, and then check your reviews. Do that for a handful of items and it is fine. Do it for hundreds, or across Etsy and your own website, and it eats your week. What a lot of sellers do not realize is that Etsy offers an API, a way for software to do all of that on your behalf. Your inventory tool, your shipping app, or an AI assistant can call it for you, and you can see everything it covers on the [Etsy profile on APIs.io](https://apis.io/providers/etsy/).

## What Etsy does

[Etsy](https://www.etsy.com) is a global marketplace for handmade, vintage, and craft-supply goods. Its Open API is the surface that sellers, developers, and integration partners use to manage shops, listings, inventory, receipts (Etsy's word for orders), payments, reviews, shipping and processing profiles, return policies, and the product categories buyers and sellers browse. Etsy also sends webhooks, which are automatic notifications pushed to your software when something happens, for order events like paid, canceled, shipped, and delivered.

## What you can get done

APIs.io maps Etsy's operations to 6 business capabilities. Here are the ones that matter most to a seller.

### [Storefront Platforms](https://apis.io/capabilities/storefront-platforms/)

This is your catalog. Software can create new listings as drafts, pull every listing in your shop, and clean up the ones you no longer sell, which is how inventory and multichannel tools keep Etsy in sync with everything else. APIs.io counts 16 operations here, including:

- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings` creates a new draft listing in your shop.
- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings` lists all the listings in a shop.
- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings/active` lists only what is currently for sale.
- `GET /v3/application/listings/{listing_id}` fetches one listing's details.
- `DELETE /v3/application/listings/{listing_id}` removes a listing.

### [Product Content Authoring Management](https://apis.io/capabilities/product-content-authoring-management/)

Photos and video sell handmade goods. These operations let software upload, fetch, and remove the media attached to each listing, so a product photo workflow can push new images straight to Etsy instead of you dragging files one by one.

- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings/{listing_id}/images` uploads a photo to a listing.
- `GET /v3/application/listings/{listing_id}/images` lists a listing's photos.
- `DELETE /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings/{listing_id}/images/{listing_image_id}` removes a photo.
- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/listings/{listing_id}/videos` uploads a video to a listing.

### [Marketplaces](https://apis.io/capabilities/marketplaces/)

This covers running the shop itself and handling orders. Software can read and update your shop details, pull your orders, and add shipment tracking, which is the step most shipping label apps automate.

- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}` reads your shop's details.
- `PUT /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}` updates them.
- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/receipts` lists your orders.
- `PUT /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/receipts/{receipt_id}` updates an order.
- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/receipts/{receipt_id}/tracking` adds tracking and creates the shipment.

### [Post-Purchase](https://apis.io/capabilities/post-purchase/)

Return policies tell buyers what happens if something is not right. Software can create, read, change, delete, and even consolidate them, which helps when you want every listing to follow the same rules.

- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/policies/return` creates a return policy.
- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/policies/return` lists your return policies.
- `PUT /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/policies/return/{return_policy_id}` updates one.
- `POST /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/policies/return/consolidate` merges duplicate policies.

### [Customer Feedback Management](https://apis.io/capabilities/customer-feedback-management/)

Reviews are what buyers read before they buy. These operations let a dashboard or assistant pull reviews for a single item or your whole shop, so you can spot problems early.

- `GET /v3/application/listings/{listing_id}/reviews` gets the reviews on one listing.
- `GET /v3/application/shops/{shop_id}/reviews` gets all the reviews for your shop.

Behind the scenes, Etsy's buyer and seller category trees are available too, under [Item Master Data Management](https://apis.io/capabilities/item-master-data-management/), which is how tools pick the right category and attributes for a new product.

## Workflows that put it together

A workflow is a recipe: several API calls made in a set order to finish one job. APIs.io lists 18 Arazzo workflows for Etsy. A few that map to everyday seller work:

- [Fulfill a Receipt](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-fulfill-receipt-workflow/) fetches an order, submits tracking to create the shipment, then marks it shipped.
- [Create Return Policy and Listing](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-create-return-policy-and-listing-workflow/) sets up a return policy, then a draft listing that uses it.
- [Create Shipping Profile and Listing](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-create-shipping-profile-and-listing-workflow/) does the same with a shipping profile.
- [Clone an Image to a New Listing](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-clone-image-to-new-listing-workflow/) reuses a photo from one listing on a new draft.
- [Get My Shop Listings](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-get-my-shop-listings-workflow/) finds your shop and lists its items by state.
- [Listing Reviews](https://apis.io/arazzos/etsy/etsy-listing-reviews-workflow/) fetches an item and the reviews left on it.

## Getting started

Etsy's API is freemium with self-serve signup, and it is a hosted service, meaning your software calls Etsy's endpoints directly. Access uses OAuth, the standard "log in with your account and grant permission" flow, which is explained in the [authentication guide](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/essentials/authentication). The main [Etsy developer documentation](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation) and the [webhooks guide](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/essentials/webhooks) cover the rest. On APIs.io, start with the [Etsy profile](https://apis.io/providers/etsy/), then look at the [Shop Receipt API](https://apis.io/apis/etsy/etsy-shop-receipt-api/), the [Shop API](https://apis.io/apis/etsy/etsy-shop-api/), the [Review API](https://apis.io/apis/etsy/etsy-review-api/), and the [Webhooks](https://apis.io/apis/etsy/webhooks/).

If order fulfillment is where your week goes, start with the Fulfill a Receipt workflow and ask whether your shipping tool already uses it.
